Hello, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What initially began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn’t in the plan for the long haul. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — new processes, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores seemed more challenging than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Solar Valley Trace
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real-life experiences in Germany.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Promoted-review platform
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Germany continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
